Een groot deel van het eiland is bebost. De omgeving van de dorpen en Skiathos-stad zijn landbouwgrond. Bossen zijn dennen, en bevinden zich in het zuidoostelijke deel van het eiland. Skopelos Island evenals de meest afgelegen van Euboea en Scyros, zijn zichtbaar in gunstige weersomstandigheden. De top van de berg, in het westen, heeft een communicatietoren en op de noordelijke helling heeft verschillende valleien. Skiathos heeft ongeveer 70 stranden die al zijn toeristische aanbod richt op wat bekend is van zon- en strandtoerisme, het uitzicht op de Middellandse Zee maakt deze plek een hemelse plek.
